This essay will discuss about a destructive behavior that is usually associated to people that fight when games ends, it is known as Hooliganism.
The term “Hooliganism” can be used to appoint an act of vandalism, which sometimes your followers are under alcohol or drugs effects. This word has been used since 1890, however in that time it was the name of a street gang in London. Became in 1960 a synonym of violence sports, especially in football. Despite of its British origin, exists rarely in other countries, nevertheless with a different name, for example in Brazil (Torcidas organizadas).

Exists several cases of Hooliganism in sports events. The most known happened in Belgium, during the final game between Liverpool (England) and Juventus (Italy) in Goblet of European Championship (1985). Thirty-eight people died, and English hooligans were blamed. Then the British teams were prohibited from participating in European competitions for a period of five years.
Unfortunately some facts of hooliganism still occur. In British territories, hooligans only fight in specific situation, in clashes outside the stadium, even if there is no game. In Brazil it's not so different, fight are scheduled via internet.

This violent act leads us to think about reasonable solutions. We know that hooligans will never cease to exist, so we need to contain them. A solution for this problem could be the trained police, qualified, severe laws and harsh punishments. This involves public safety.

  1. As you said hooliganism is serious problem involving football fans, in my opinion the Police must identify all the problematic fans, and not allowed their entrance at the stadium in football days, cohibit their bad bahavior with using large police force presence at the stadiums and streets around, and work with media to spread this mitigation measures.

  2. It's hard to see that people are not respecting the society. They don't have education. Who carries the vandalism has to be removed from society, is very dangerous for us to live with this vandals. Since it is a matter of education, I believe that could change.

  3. Another impotant ropic here in our blog.
Hooliganism is a very complicated matter, because it is related to violence. And we need our government leaders to do something about it. I agree with Catia's opinions and add a personal coment: I believe that the majority of theses hooligans are comanded by bandits, like drug dealers, for example. So, the solution is to arrest the leaders and to use more strict laws in cases of hooliganism. This way, maybe the problem could be solved.

  4. It's sad how some people corrupt a good thing, like cheering up a team, in such violence and vandalism. As you said, hooligans will never cease to exist. This is a problem that still happening even in countrys that have a good educational system. So, i think this isn't just about education, but also about strict laws and punishments. It's a difficult topic to solve, but not impossible!
    Nice essay!

  5. Well, it's not cool seeing people fighting and destroying everything. It's even worse to know that they do this without a reason, just because they want.
When something like this happens we stop and think where are we living, and the problem is that hooliganism is still happening and can't be stopped.
Good job with this essay !

  9. Unfortunately we live in a strange world where people have fun with stupid acts, like this vandalism that we see on Hooliganism. This kind of person does not deserves respect from other citizens, not even from the government. It's fact that it will not stop so early and who wants to watch a match of the favorite team in the places where hooliganism is practiced (even in Brazil), need to opt for two choices: to go to the stadium and run life risk or watch at home or other security place without the same emoction that is alive. It's too demotivating live in a world like this. Your text is very good and informative. I liked so much it!
