Brazil with z

The lack of knowledge makes people outside have a large prejudice from this contrasting land called Brazil. A considerable number of foreign people think that Brazil is a big jungle near a wonderful beach where it’s possible to have women, caipirinhas drinks, drugs and fun all time, as if carnival happened all the year. And there is another part that thinks just in traffic, violence, prostitution and poverty, such as underdevelopment country as it is, though much more worst, and they don’t have any kind of curiosity to know better this place. This essay will expose the contrast of the concept of foreign people and the reality lived by Brazilian population.

In a violent paradise where football implies holiday, blends of colors, flavors, smells, women with or without clothes, carnival and samba, people claims justice, healthy and education. This is the reality. However, the concept of Brazil is too generalized. It is proved that the world population judges the unknown. Majority of people take a little number of famous cases and made their own superficial judgments. It is possible to take as an example the cartoon called The Simpsons where the family goes to Rio de Janeiro and deal with monkeys and other wild animals at the urban area. It is a funny and prejudice joke. Diversity, creativity, overcoming and beauty are far from the real concept of Brazil for such uninformed people.

However, in Brazilian community it is possible to divide the population and their concepts from the social position. Depending on this it is possible to evaluate how the Brazilian individual judges the mother land. As a poor person who works hardly to have at least something to eat this is the most unfair place to live, without the basically of education, healthy and dignity, while for a person from middle class the concern is concentrated on how to keep money, study, how to earn money and enjoyment. For both parts there is the normal trouble involving the lack of security. Unfortunately Brazilian people just have what they can pay for because what is offered by the government is such a shame. And even with all kind of problems, Brazil keeps a humanity and friendly population. Another important fact that needs a note is Brazilian geography. With all kind of natural species of plants and animals, his rich soil and clean waters, Brazil changes the mind of prejudice people.
In fact there is a sort of problems and a number of precipitated judgments, which results in a multiplied prejudice; in addition there is the Brazilian understanding of how to deal with old and common problems. Always smiling and with a will of a fair place, Brazilians go on their lives without the concern of the concepts attributed to them from foreign people and being always friendly, independent of the concept.

This essay will discuss about a destructive behavior that is usually associated to people that fight when games ends, it is known as Hooliganism.
The term “Hooliganism” can be used to appoint an act of vandalism, which sometimes your followers are under alcohol or drugs effects. This word has been used since 1890, however in that time it was the name of a street gang in London. Became in 1960 a synonym of violence sports, especially in football. Despite of its British origin, exists rarely in other countries, nevertheless with a different name, for example in Brazil (Torcidas organizadas).

Exists several cases of Hooliganism in sports events. The most known happened in Belgium, during the final game between Liverpool (England) and Juventus (Italy) in Goblet of European Championship (1985). Thirty-eight people died, and English hooligans were blamed. Then the British teams were prohibited from participating in European competitions for a period of five years.
Unfortunately some facts of hooliganism still occur. In British territories, hooligans only fight in specific situation, in clashes outside the stadium, even if there is no game. In Brazil it's not so different, fight are scheduled via internet.

This violent act leads us to think about reasonable solutions. We know that hooligans will never cease to exist, so we need to contain them. A solution for this problem could be the trained police, qualified, severe laws and harsh punishments. This involves public safety.

Overpopulation

By Catia Magalhães,
Bárbara Romana and
Bruno Leandro

According to projections, in 2050, the world population will grow into 11 billion. Overpopulation does not depend only on the amount of individuals, but the supply capacity of its habitat. The resources to be considered include clean water, clean air, food, shelter, warmth, etc. In this essay, we will focus on the effects of human overpopulation, a number of problems associated with, and mitigation measures that might be applied to reduce its impacts.

One of the most important problems associated with overpopulation is shortage of fresh water. The main reserves are located in iced regions and underground rivers. However, we can get it from sea, by desalinization. This process is very expensive, especially the transport of water throughout the whole continent and to high places, which means a serious problem for poor nations.

Another important problem refers to land and food. According to The World Resources Institute, 12% of all Earth's surface nowadays is used for agriculture. Although human population inhabits only 0,05% of Earth’s area, the impact of humanity is felt on a quarter of the land. With new technologies, mankind will be able to deal with these issues, for instance: using aquaculture, hydroponic culture, constructing artificial islands, and vertical farming. Nevertheless, production sustainability must be considered when applying these processes.

In conclusion, when the subject ‘overpopulation’ is mentioned, humankind has to consider its ability to provide resources for its own maintenance on Earth. There are many problems to think about, but the most important point to bear in mind is that mankind must learn fast how to live without depleting the entire planet in the process. If not, there will be no planet or population to occupy it.
